Tejaswin Shankar finishes second at K-State’s season-ending Ward Haylett Invitational
India’s high jump national record holder Tejaswin Shankar on Friday finished second in men’s high jump during the Ward Haylett Invitational at the R.V. Christian Track in Manhattan.
Also a decathlete, Tejaswin cleared 2.24m to finish just below Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford, who registered a jump of 2.30m.
Incidentally, Romaine ended up breaking Tejaswin’s facility record of 2.28m set in 2021.
Earlier this year, Tejaswin had broken the heptathlon national record with 5993 points en route to winning India’s only gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2026 in China. He bettered his own national record of 5650 points set in 2021 in the USA.
Right after his K-State performance, Reliance Foundation Sports took to social media to announce that they have signed the Asian Games silver medallist.
