Grand Chess Tour, Romania: Praggnanandhaa settles for another draw against Deac

Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa settled for a draw against local lad Bogdan-Daniel Deac in the sixth round at the Super Chess Classic 2026 in Romania on Wednesday.

Playing with black pieces, Praggnanandhaa held a pawn advantage with his opponent under immense time pressure. But the Romanian forced a rook exchange to force out a draw in 68 moves.

This was the Indian’s fourth consecutive draw in the competition, which took him to 3.5 points, tied second with Fabiano Caruana, Anish Giri and Jordan Van Foreest.

Praggnanandhaa will take on USA’s Caruana in the seventh round on Thursday.
