Twice in two days: Gukesh loses to Sindarov at Super Rapid & Blitz once again

Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh lost to Uzbekistan’s 20-year-old Javokhir Sindarov on Saturday during the Blitz round of the Super Rapid and Blitz Poland 2026, a Grand Chess Tour event.

Facing off in the penultimate round in Blitz, Gukesh lost in 46 moves despite playing with white pieces. Under time pressure and Sindarov with a two-pawn advantage, Gukesh resigned with just five seconds left on the clock.

Sindarov had defeated the Indian on Friday as well, pulling back in their head-to-head record after Gukesh won in the Rapid round earlier in the tournament.

The two will face off for the World crown later in the year after the Uzbek convincingly won the Candidates title.
