Tata Steel Masters 2026: Sindarov joins Abdusattorov atop leaderboard; Tough day for Indians


It was a tough day for Indians at the ongoing Tata Steel Masters 2026, taking place in Wijk Aan Zee, Netherlands, as round 11 on Friday saw two Indians lose, and the other two forced to share half a point each.

World champion D. Gukesh drew with Aravindh Chithambaram, while Arjun Erigaisi and R. Praggnanandhaa lost to Javokhir Sindarov and Vincent Keymer, respectively.

The result meant Sindarov joined Nodirbek Abdusattorov atop the leaderboard on seven points each. The Uzbek GM secured a draw with Jorden Van Foreest.

The four Indians sit quite far from the top — Gukesh (5.5), Praggnanandhaa (4.5), Erigiaisi (4) and Chithambaram (4).

The 12th round on Saturday will feature the following fixtures for the Indians: Gukesh vs Hans Moke Niemann, Erigaisi vs Jordan Van Foreest, Praggnanandhaa vs Javokhir Sindarov and Chithambaram vs Anish Giri.
