F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2025: Russell keeps Verstappen at bay to secure win; McLaren wins Constructors title
George Russell led from lights to flag to secure his second win of the season at the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay circuit on Sunday.
The Mercedes driver finished over five seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, who managed to thwart a late attack from McLaren’s Lando Norris, who finished third.
Norris’ podium and teammate Oscar Piastri’s fourth-place finish ensured McLaren sealed the Constructor’s Championship with six races to go.
Piastri’s lead over the Briton in the Driver’s Championship was cut to 22 points. Verstappen follows behind 63 points behind the Aussie driver.

The title celebrations in the McLaren garage could be slightly sour following a first-lap collision between the papaya cars, with Piastri alleging that he was shoved out of the way by his teammate.
Rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished fifth in the other Mercedes ahead of the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc, who had to manage a late brake issue, and Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton had enough of a gap over Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso to pit for soft tyres late in the race, but the seven-time world champion couldn’t make any headway with the advantage.
Haas’ Ollie Bearman and Williams’ Carlos Sainz, who was disqualified from Qualifying after a technical breach, rounded out the points-scoring positions.
