JK Tyre Racing Season 2025 Round 2 delivers action-packed weekend

Round 2 of the JK Tyre Racing Season 2025 delivered an action-packed weekend of racing at the Kari Motor Speedway on the outskirts of Coimbatore.

Coimbatore’s Jai Prashanth Venkat topped the charts in the final race of the Levitas Cup, introduced this year in JK Tyre’s racing calendar.

By Sunday afternoon, Jai Prashanth had timed 14:38.492 over 10 laps of the 2.3 km circuit. Jai Prashanth peaked in the fourth race, clocking his best lap at 1:26.100. “I am very happy, it has been a good Sunday,” he said.

On Sunday’s Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup, Navaneeth Kumar and Anish D Shetty battled fiercely, with the former winning the race by just 2/1000th of a second.

Mincheva beats Leong in final

Fifth seed Vlada Mincheva beat Shihomi Leong of Malaysia 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the $15,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the Tennis Project, Baliawas, on Sunday.

The 18-year-old Vlada did not drop a set in five matches, in winning her maiden title in the professional circuit. She had lost to Shruti Ahlawat in straight sets in the quarterfinals last week at the same venue.

Two years ago, Vlada had won the ITF grade-2 junior tournament in Delhi.

Suraj Kumar Chand, Anjali Semwal advance to semifinals of HCL Squash Indian Tour 3 in Bengaluru

India’s Suraj Kumar Chand and Anjali Semwal advanced to the semifinals of the HCL Squash Indian Tour 3, a PSA Challenger event, in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Second seed Chand defeated fifth seed Sebastiaan Hofman (NED) 11-2, 11-6, 11-4 in 27 minutes in the men’s quarterfinals, and will meet Egypt’s Omar El Torkay in the last-four stage on Monday.

Fourth seed Anjali beat Malaysia’s Rui Jean Yek 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-2 in in 33 minutes in the women’s quarterfinals and will take on Harleein Tan (Malaysia) for a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, Indians Om Semwal, Sanya Vats, Nirupama Dubey and Shameena Riaz lost in the quarterfinals.

Quarterfinal results of Indians:

Men: 2-Suraj Kumar Chand bt 5-Sebastiaan Hofman (Ned) 11-2, 11-6, 11-4; 6-Om Semwal lost to 3-Seif Shenawy (Egy) 5-11, 5-11, 6-11.

Women: Sanya Vats lost to Harleein Tan (MAS) 5-11, 5-11, 3-11; 4-Anjali Semwal bt Rui Jean Yek (Mas) 11-7, 8-11,11-7, 11-2; Nirupama Dubey lost to Zoe Foo (MAS) 1-11, 11-9, 9-11, 4-11; 5-Shameena Riaz lost to 1-Menna Walid (Egy) 4-11, 5-11, 6-11.
