Shailesh Kumar wins India’s first gold medal at World Para Athletics Championships 2025
India opened its account at World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi on Saturday as Shailesh Kumar bagged gold while Varun Bhati clinched bronze in the men’s high jump T63.
USA’s Ezra Frech, the reigning Olympic champion, won the silver medal. Both Frech and Bhati finished with a best clearance of 1.85m but on countback, the American beat the Indian to take the second place on the podium.
