India A thrashes Ireland 6-1 in Hockey Tour of Europe opener
The India A men’s hocket team began its tour of Europe with a commanding 6-1 victory over Ireland at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
India dished out a clinical performance throughout the four quarters. While Uttam Singh opened the scoring for India, Amandeep Lakra extended its lead.
This was followed by a brace by Aditya Lalage as he scored back-to-back goals. Forwards Selvam Karthi and Boby Singh Dhami too scored a goal each.
Ireland could only manage to score a consolation goal as India was tight in defence.
India will next face Ireland again on July 9 (21:30 IST) as it will look for another positive result and build on its momentum. Later, India will face France, England, Belgium and The Netherlands over the following two weeks.
