Asian Athletics Championships 2025: India defends 4x400m mixed relay title
India defended its 4x400m mixed relay title at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025, in Gumi, South Korea on Wednesday.
The Indian team, comprising Rupal Choudhary, Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan, Vishal TK, and Subha Venkatesan, won gold in Gumi with a timing of 3:18.12 seconds.
This is India’s third medal in mixed relay at the Asian Championships, following the gold from 2023 and the silver from 2019, when the event was first introduced in the competition.
Santosh, running the first leg, gained Indian the lead in the home stretch before passing the baton to Rupal, who faced a tough competition from her China counterpart.
But, Rupal held off the charge, before handing over to Vishal, who fended off early pressure to extent India’s lead. Subha closed off the race efficiently to seal the gold for India.
While China claimed silver with 3:20.52s, Sri Lanka took bronze with 3:21.95s.
