Rory McIlroy hopes to ‘inspire’ Man United after Masters win
New Masters champion Rory McIlroy has said he would be happy to don his Green Jacket at a Manchester United game if it could “inspire some better play” from the club.
McIlroy made golfing history by becoming the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam — winning The Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and Open Championship.
The Northern Irishman was handed his Green Jacket at Augusta on Sunday, 11 years after winning his last major.
McIlroy, a lifelong United fan, celebrated his Open win in 2014 by taking the trophy to Old Trafford to showcase in front of supporters.

After his victory, the 35-year-old was asked if he would consider bringing his new blazer to Old Trafford. “If it can inspire some better play, absolutely,” McIlroy said.
Man United fell to 14th place in the Premier League after losing to Newcastle United 4-1. The side faces a crucial Europa League quarterfinal second leg against Lyon on Thursday.
