China beat India 17-9 in the mixed 10m air rifle match at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires to clinch the gold medal, and return to the top of the medals table.

India stayed in the race with the addition of the silver through Arya Borse and Rudrankksh Patil.

With a combined score of 630.5 in the qualification, Arya and Rudrankksh had made the Gold Medal Match, where they went up against Wang Zifei and Song Buhan.

The Indians did not do much wrong but the Chinese pair looked to be in control since the beginning to seal the tie in their favour. Rudrankksh and Arya were at their best between the ninth and 12th single-shot series during which they won three in a row and drew the fourth. But they were left with too much to cover.

The pair of Narmada Nithin Raju and Arjun Babuta, fourth with an aggregate score of 629.6 in the qualification round, had a shot at another medal in the bronze match. However, the host side’s Fernanda Russo and Marcelo Gutierrez outpowered them by a 17-13 margin.
