Zoravar Singh Sandhu voted ISSF People’s Choice Men’s Athlete of the Year 2025

Indian shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu, who won bronze at the Shotgun World Championship earlier this year, was voted the ISSF People’s Choice Men’s Athlete of the Year 2025 in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.

The 48-year-old’s bronze in men’s trap shooting at the Worlds in Athens was his first individual podium in 18 years.

It was also India’s third-ever medal in the event at the Shotgun World Championship, after Manavjeet Singh Sandhu, who won gold in 2006, and Karni Singh, who claimed silver in 1962.

Zoravar, an 2023 Asian Games gold medallist, beat compatriot and former world champion Rudrankksh Patil in the global poll to win the People’s Choice Award.

Jeanette Hegg Duestad, the reigning 50m rifle 3 positions world champion, won both the Women’s Rifle Athlete of the Year and the People’s Choice Women’s Athlete Award.
