World Para Athletics Championships 2025: Rinku wins gold, Sundar bags silver in Men’s Javelin Throw F46 event
Rinku Hooda and Sundar Singh Gurjar made it a memorable double podium for India in Men’s Javelin Throw F46, grabbing gold and silver respectively, at the World Para Athletics Championships on Monday.
Rinku went past China’s C. Guo’s 10-year-old Championship Record of 61.89m with his opening-round throw of 63.81m at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Two-time Paralympic bronze medallist Sundar went past Rinku with his third effort of 64.11m.
However, Sundar’s lead didn’t last long. In the very next round, Rinku came up with a huge throw of 66.37m.
Sundar needed an effort somewhere close to his World Record of 68.60m but he could only throw the spear till 64.76m in the fifth round and failed to better it in the last round.

India missed out on a podium sweep as Paris Paralympics silver medallist Ajeet Singh Yadav finished fourth with 61.77m while Cuba’s Guillermo Varona Gonzalez took the bronze with 63.34m.
F46 classification is for athletes with arm deficiency, impaired muscle power or impaired passive range of movement in arms, with athletes competing in a standing position.
India has won five medals at the ongoing edition of the World Championships, which concludes on October 5.
Shailesh Kumar and Varun Singh Bhati clinched a gold and a silver respectively in the Men’s High Jump T63 while Deepthi Jeevanji clinched a bronze in the Women’s 400m T20 event.
