Women’s Kabaddi World Cup moved from India to Bangladesh


The second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will be held in Bangladesh from November 15-25. The tournament will take place at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

This is the third time the event has moved venues and dates in the last five months. It was originally scheduled to take place in Bihar in June. Later, Hyderabad was supposed to host it at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium from August 3 to 10, before it was ‘indefinitely postponed’ to after the conclusion of the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League.

According to sources, the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) has turned to India’s neighbour to finally get the tournament going. 

Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, Poland and India are the 14 countries expected to compete for the title.

The tournament is coming back for its second edition after a gap of 13 years when Patna hosted the first edition in 2012. India emerged as champion with Iran, Japan, and Thailand ending in second, third, and fourth place respectively.
