Magnus Carlsen is in the news again, this time for slamming the table after losing to Arjun Erigaisi in their Round 9 clash at the World Blitz Championship 2025 on Monday.
Carlsen’s actions were similar to his antics after his loss to D. Gukesh in Norway Chess in June this year. A visibly upset Carlsen vented his frustration by banging his fist on the table which threw the pieces in disarray.
The five-time world champion has been in focus for plenty of reasons in the last few days. On Saturday, Carlsen was trending on social media, albeit for the wrong reasons, after pushing a camera, which was following him out of the playing hall at the World Rapid Championship.
On the first day of the World Rapid Championship, Carlsen was the subject of hushed murmurs when he reportedly made officials and players wait, an action that saw the tournament get delayed.
