WATCH: Australia honours Manpreet Singh’s 400th international cap; Midfielder becomes second Indian man to achieve feat

India midfielder Manpreet Singh became only the second men’s hockey player from the country to earn 400 international caps when he took to field during a FIH Pro League 2024-25 match against Australia on Sunday.

Only Dilip Tirkey, the current Hockey India President, has more India caps (412).

“I still remember the goosebumps I felt in my debut game. To be standing here, 400 games later, is beyond anything I imagined. This milestone is shared with every coach who pushed me, every teammate who backed me, and every fan who believed in me when I needed it most. I’m still learning, still growing — and I play with the same hunger today as I did at 19,” the now 33-year-old player from Punjab said on the milestone.

Manpreet has won innumerable individual and team trophies, which include four Asian Champions Trophy titles, two Asian Games gold medals, and two Olympics bronze medals. He was India’s skipper when the side clinched the bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
