Tanvi Sharma loses to Phichitpreechasak in BWF World Junior Championships 2025 final


India’s Tanvi Sharma lost to second seed Anyapat Phichitpreechasak of Thailand in the girls’ singles final of the BWF World Junior Championships 2025 in Guwahati on Sunday.

Phichitpreechasak outclassed Tanvi in straight games, winning the summit clash 7-15, 12-15. In their only previous meeting, Tanvi had bettered Phichitpreechasak, at the Asian U-17 Junior Championships in 2023.

Tanvi now becomes the fifth Indian to win silver at the World Junior Championships, after Aparna Popat (1996), Saina Nehwal (2006), Siril Verma (2015), and Sankar Muthusamy (2022).

Saina is the only Indian to win gold at the championship, with her title triumph coming in 2008.
