Suruchi Singh, Samrat Rana win silver in 10m air pistol mixed team at Asian Shooting Championship

Suruchi Singh and Samrat Rana clinched the silver medal for India in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Shooting Championship, finishing with 479.6 points in the final.

The Indian pair was beaten by Uzbekistan’s Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov, who produced a strong second-half surge to take gold with 481.3 points. Chinese Taipei, represented by Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen, claimed bronze with 412.2 points.

India began brightly and held the lead after the first two series, putting Uzbekistan under pressure early. However, the Uzbek duo turned the contest around from the third series onwards, steadily building a cushion and not relinquishing the lead thereafter, eventually closing out the final with a 1.7-point advantage.

Earlier in the day, Suruchi and Samrat had qualified for the final by topping the qualification round with 583 points, finishing ahead of teams from Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei to set up the title clash.

The final was held in a new four-team format, with the earlier gold medal match (GMM) and bronze medal match (BMM) system now discontinued. Under the revised rules, the fourth-placed team, Vietnam, was eliminated after 36 shots, while the bronze medallist was decided after 42 shots, before the top two teams fought it out for gold.
