Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025: India loses 0-1 to Belgium in final


India men’s hockey team went down 0-1 against Belgium in the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 in Ipoh, Malaysia on Sunday.

Forward Thibeau Stockbroekx scored the solitary goal of the match in 34th minute. India had three Penalty Corners in the contest but failed to convert any.

Craig Fulton’s side only defeat before this also came at the hands of the Belgians, who won 3-2 during the round-robin stage.

This was Belgium’s maiden Sultan Azlan Shah title in its second tournament appearance. The first time it played in the competition, in 2008, it finished in sixth place.

New Zealand defeated Malaysia in the 3rd-4th place match 6-1 to complete the podium. Canada defeated Korea 5-4 to finish in fifth place.
