Sudirman Cup 2025: India begins campaign with a 1-4 defeat to Denmark
India’s chances of making the Sudirman Cup quarterfinals took a hit after a 1-4 hammering by Denmark in the opening group stage match on Sunday.
PV Sindhu’s 20-22, 21-23 defeat to Line Kjaersfeldt in the women’s singles summed up India’s day after the World No. 18 threw away a 20-16 advantage in the opening game before losing.
Only the women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Castro and Shruti Mishra managed to get a win as they beat Natasha P Anthonisen and Alexandra Boje 21-13, 21-18.
HS Prannoy lost his men’s singles match, while the mixed doubles pair (Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha) and the men’s doubles pair (Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi and Hariharan Amsakarunan) also went down.
