Shooter Jonathan Gavin Antony’s golden run earns Aces Young Achiever award

Indian shooter Jonathan Gavin Antony was named Young Achiever of the Year (Boy) at the Sportstar Aces Awards 2026 in Mumbai on Friday after a breakout season that marked him as one of Indian shooting’s brightest prospects.

Antony delivered a dominant performance at the ISSF Junior World Cup in New Delhi, winning gold in the 10 m air pistol with a score of 244.8 in the final, finishing 8.5 points ahead of Italy’s Luca Arrighi. His precision was evident throughout the final, with 21 of his 24 shots landing in the 10-ring.

The feat came just days after Antony turned 16. He had already topped the qualification round with a score of 586-19x.

Antony also won silver in the 10 m air pistol mixed team event alongside Vanshika Chaudhary, finishing behind compatriots Kapil and Rashmika Sahgal.

At the Asian Championships in Shymkent, he had secured a bronze in the individual junior event along with mixed team silver with Vanshika and a boys’ team silver.

Earlier in the year, Antony had also become the youngest-ever champion in the men’s 10 m air pistol event at the National Games.
