Shaili Singh targets podium finish at 2025 Asian Athletics Championships
Indian long jumper Shaili Singh secured qualification for the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, with a gold-medal winning jump of 6.45m during the Indian Athletics Open in Chennai on Tuesday.
Shaili, appearing in her first competitive event in nine months, beat the qualification mark (6.41m) with her final jump in the event.
“I am extremely elated to have breached the Asian Athletics Championship qualification mark with a jump of 6.45m in the first tournament of this season. This year, I will be eyeing a podium finish, and I am training hard and preparing myself for the same.
I would also like to thank my coaching staff for always pushing my boundaries and supporting me at every step of my journey. There is still a long way to go and many objectives that I need to achieve. So I am happy to have ticked off one item from the list,” said Shaili.

In the last edition of the Asian Athletics Championships, held in Bangkok in 2023, Shaili had won silver with a 6.54m leap.
The upcoming edition of the continental competition is scheduled to be held in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27 to 31.
