Satwik-Chirag duo pulls out of Badminton Asia Championships 2025


Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have pulled out of the upcoming Asia Badminton Championships which is set to take place in Ningbo, China between April 8 and 13.

Earlier on Monday, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced the India squad set to participate in the tournament. But a look at the entry list reveals that the Satwik-Chirag pair has pulled out of the Asian competition.

Currently ranked 11th in the world, the Indian men’s doubles duo recently reached the Round of 16 of the All England Open but retired during the second game.

The shuttlers were up against China’s Hao Nan Xie and Wei Han Zeng. The Indians had lost the first game 16-21 and were going 2-2 in the second when they retired hurt from the match.

Last year too Satwik-Chirag had pulled out of the Badminton Asia Championships after the former was recovering from a shoulder injury.

In 2023, the duo had won the men’s doubles title at the Asian tournament after beating Malaysians Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in the summit clash.
