Sachin Yadav finishes fourth in javelin throw final at World Athletics Championships 2025; Pooja fails to make final in 800m

India’s Sachin Yadav improved his Personal Best and finished a creditable fourth in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2025 edition of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Thursday.

Entering the final, Sachin’s PB stood at 85.16m which won him a silver at the Asian Athletics Championships earlier this year. But with his first throw in the final, he sent the spear flying to a distance of 86.27m to momentarily take the silver medal position.

He fouled in his second attempt before throwing 85.71m to drop to fourth place. Sachin remained consistent with throws of 84.90m, 85.96m, and 80.95m but missed out on a bronze medal by 40cm.

Elsewhere, runner Pooja finished last in her women’s 800m heat but recorded a new Personal Best after clocking 2:01.03.
