ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025: Indian squad, schedule, format, live streaming info


The ITTF Mixed Team World Cup is set to be held at the Sichuan Gymnasium in Chengdu, China, from November 30 to December 7.

Commonwealth Games double gold medallist Manika Batra, alongside Asian Games bronze medallist Manav Thakkar will lead an eight-member Indian contingent.

In addition to Manika and Manav, Olympian Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is also a part of the Indian squad set to compete in Chengdu.

It is the third edition of the tournament but this one is more significant as the mixed team format will make its debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Format

A total of 16 teams have been divided equally into four groups for Stage 1. Top two teams from each group will progress to Stage 2 which will comprise a single pool of eight teams.

Teams that have already faces each other in the first stage will not meet again in Stage 2. Instead, the result of their first-stage encounter will be carried forward. All other teams will play each other once in the second stage, following which the top four move on to the semifinals.

Each tie will follow a first-to-eight games system. All individual matches in a tie will be played in a best-of-three games format. Once a team wins eight games, the tie ends.

The tie will begin with mixed doubles followed by women’s singles and men’s singles. Players who feature in mixed doubles match will not be allowed to play in subsequent singles fixtures. If needed, women’s and men’s doubles matches will be played, with the order of the final two rubbers decided by the captain of the lower-ranked team.
