Inside Hockey India’s 39-Member Women’s Camp: Who’s In, Who’s Back, What’s at Stake

Hockey India on Friday named a 39-member core group for the senior women’s national camp, to be held at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru from October 24 to December 7. The camp will help finalise the squad for next year’s World Cup qualifiers, where India faces Wales, Scotland and Uruguay.

The probables include goalkeepers Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki and youngster Samiksha Saxena. Defenders Nikki Pradhan, Sushila Chanu and Udita lead the backline, with Ishika Chaudhary and Jyoti Chhatri among the fresh faces. Midfielders Neha, Salima Tete and Vaishnavi Phalke bring experience, while Navneet Kaur, Sangita Kumari and Mumtaz Khan headline the forward line. Star drag-flicker Deepika returns after injury.

Head coach Harendra Singh said the camp aims to build on the team’s Asia Cup silver, focusing on sharper conversions, stronger defence, and greater physical conditioning to raise the group’s overall standards.
