Anahat Singh bows out in Boston quarters
Reigning women’s national champion Anahat Singh bowed out in the quarterfinals of the Boston Open, a USD 15,000 PSA Challenger event, after losing to Egypt’s Jana Swaify in a five-game thriller.
Delhi teenager Anahat, the world No. 45 and second seed in the tournament, rallied strongly by winning the third and fourth games to take the contest into the decider before her eighth-seeded opponent sealed the affair 11-4, 11-9, 6-11, 3-11, 11-5.
Anahat defeated American Charlotte Sze 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 11-8 in the round of 16 on Thursday after receiving a first-round bye.

Jagathishree gears up for FIM Asia Women’s Circuit Racing in Taiwan
Fresh from a triumphant performance at the National Circuit Racing Championship in Chennai, Jagathishree Kumaresan is set to compete in the second round of the FIM Asia Women’s Circuit Racing Championship at the Lihpao International Karting Circuit here.
A three-time Indian national champion, Jagathishree earned her spot on the international grid through consistent performances across multiple domestic championships.
In 2024, she won the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (Girls Stock 165cc) and the National Drag Racing Championship (Ladies Class).
In 2025, she added victories in the early rounds of the MMSC FMSCI Motorcycle Racing Nationals and TVS RTR 200 Women’s Races as the lead rider of One Racing team.
She trained under seasoned coach Mohamed Hanif, the Team Principal of One Racing, who quickly established her among India’s top female racers.

India’s trap mixed teams fail to impress on last day of ISSF Shotgun World C’ships
India’s trap mixed team pair of Neeru Dhanda and Bhowneesh Mendiratta came up with a below-par show to finish 25th, while compatriots Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Aashima Ahlawat ended up 28th on the concluding day of the ISSF World Championships (Shotgun) in Athens.
A day after Zoravar won a historic individual trap bronze to become only the second Indian after Manavjit Singh Sandhu (2006 Zagreb, gold) to clinch a medal in the prestigious competition, both the country’s pairs shot identical scores of 137/150 in the qualification round to miss the four-team finals by quite a distance.
India is joint eighth in the medals tally along with six other nations with a solitary bronze. The position can change as the gold-medal match between Italy and San Marino is scheduled later in the day.
The United States are leading the table with four gold, one silver and a bronze, while Spain is second with two gold and a silver. Croatia are in third spot with two gold.
