Hardeep becomes world champion in 110kg category in U-17 Greco-Roman wrestling

India’s Hardeep grabbed the gold medal in 110kg category in Greco-Roman wrestling at the U-17 World Championships in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday.

Hardeep defeated Iran’s Yazdan Reza Delrouz on criteria after the final between the two wrestlers finished at 3-3.

The Indian beat Kazakhstan’s Baktur Sovetkhan 2-0 in the qualification round. In the round of 16, he registered a 4-2 victory over Mateusz Jaroslaw Tomelka before taking down Ukraine’s Anatolii Novachenko 9-0 in the quarterfinals.

In his semifinal against Turkiye’s Emrullah Capkan, the Indian won by a 4-2 scoreline.
