India loses to Turkiye

The India Under-17 men’s team lost 0-1 to Türkiye in the first of two friendly matches against the host at the Emirhan Sport Center in Manavgat, Antalya.

Türkiye scored the opening goal in the 13th minute from the penalty spot after Lawmsangzuala brought down Eymen Erdoğan just inside the box. The 1. FC Köln winger stepped up himself to take the spot kick and slotted it into the bottom left corner.

India is using these friendly games to prepare for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia later this year. The Blue Colts will face Türkiye again on February 12 at the same venue.

Diksha, Pranavi, Aditi among five Indians to tee off in Riyadh

Five Indians will tee up as the new season of the 2026 Ladies European Tour (LET) gets underway with the PIF Saudi Ladies International at Riyadh Golf Club.

The tournament takes place from Wednesday to Saturday, and Diksha Dagar, the top ranked Indian at 25th place in 2025, will be looking to improve her place to get into the Top-3 like she did in 2023.

The other golfers are: Avani Prashanth, who has a superb first season on LET, Pranavi Urs, who did well to recover from an injury midway through the year and Hitaashee Bakshi, who sealed her card with a fine a top-3 finish as three Indians figured in the top-5 at the Hero Indian Open.

Also playing the event is Aditi Ashok, who divided her time between the LPGA and the LET, where she has won five times.

The LET has announced a record prize purse for the 2026 season with players competing for over 40 million euros for the first time in its history.

Bogey-free Tvesa takes first-round lead in third leg of WPGT

Indian golfer Tvesa Malik fired the only bogey-free round on the opening day of the third leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour to take the sole lead in Pune.

Trying to get back the form and rhythm which made her one of the best players in India, Tvesa had one birdie on each side of the course.

A total of 44 players teed up at the Rs. 17 lakh event.

Lying second was Anvitha Narender (71), who after three birdies and two bogeys in the first eight holes, parred the last 10 holes.

Two amateurs Priya Kumari and Lavanya Gupta carded even par 72s to be tied third. Lavanya may well have been in shared lead but for the two closing bogeys on the 17th and the 18th.
