Indian sports wrap, December 2: India finishes winless in ITTF Mixed Team World Cup
TABLE TENNIS
India crashed out of the 2025 ITTF Mixed Team World Cup after a 5-8 loss to Australia in the third and final group stage match in Chengdu, China on Tuesday.
India has failed to register a single tie win in the tournament, a dismal result for an ecosystem with promising talent. Its previous losses came against Japan and Croatia.
India has never advanced past the group stage in this competition, a worrying sign given the event is now part of the roster for the 2028 LA Olympics.

Vikramaditya Chaufla beats Russian veteran on way to Indian Racketlon Open title
India captain Vikramaditya Chaufla waded through a competitive international field to lift the Willingdon Indian Racketlon Open trophy.
Chaufla, who has multiple World Championship medals to his name, had to dig deep to get the better of compatriot Animesh Kejriwal in the final of the B category held over the weekend. The final scoreline read 21–18, 21–10, 10–21, 19–18 in Chaufla’s favour.
The semifinal against Russian veteran Dmitry Dubovenko was an absorbing battle of attrition before the Indian prevailed 9–21, 21–16, 21–16, 21–17. Racketlon is a fast growing sport where the competitors are required to play four racket sports: table tennis, badminton, tennis and squash.
The tournament — an international Super World Tour event — was hosted alongside the World Tour Finals featuring the world’s top eight men and women.
