U22 Asian Championships: India assured of six medals as two women and four men advance to semifinals
India was assured of six more medals in the U22 Asian Boxing Championships 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday after Priya (women’s 60kg), Paranjal Yadav (women’s 70kg), Harsh (men’s 60kg), Neeraj (men’s 75kg), Rockey Chaudhary (men’s 85kg) and Ishan Kataria (men’s 90+kg) sealed their semifinals berth with comfortable victories in their respective bouts.
Priya started India’s march with a unanimous 5:0 verdict against Sarii Kokufu of Japan and Harsha also dominated Mongolia’s Munkh-Erdene Erdenebold to win by an identical score line.
Paranjal became the third boxer to assure India a medal in the morning session after tough battle against Mengge Zhang of China. The bout swung either way with both the boxers adopting an aggressive approach with the Indian prevailing 3:2 in a split decision.
India was already assured of two medals in the U22 category on Sunday with Bhawna Sharma (women’s 48kg) and Yatri Patel (women’s 57kg) reaching the semifinals.
In the evening session, Neeraj continued India’s march as he battered Chinese Taipei’s Jun-Zhang Lin 5:0 to advance to the semifinals.
Rockey Choudhary then made it five for the day as he played a smart tactical bout to beat Kazakhstan’s Azatbek Zholdaskhan 4:1.
And Ishan Kataria underlined India’s domination as referee stopped his fight against Seyedyousef Mousavi of Iran to reach the last four stage.
Among the seven Indians in action on Monday, only Sagar suffered a reversal in the men’s 55kg quarterfinal.

Pune Marathon to be hold on November 23
The second edition of Pune Marathon will be held on November 23 later this year with Milind Soman as the face of the event.
The flag off will be from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The total prize money for this edition stands at Rs. 11 Lakh, across various race categories.
Entry fees are structured as follow:
Marathon (42.2K): INR 950 + GST; Half Marathon (21.1K): INR 900 + GST; 10K Run: INR 750 + GST; 5K Run: INR 600 + GST

AITA: Divya beats Ananya to enter pre-quarterfinals
Divya Bhardwaj fought her way past Ananya Jain 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in the first round of the Rs.100,000 AITA women’s tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex on Monday.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Divya will challenge the top seed Mahika Khanna.

PSA Tour: Rathika Seelan beats Sanya in first round
Rathika Seelan battled past Sanya Vats 7-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-3, 16-14 in the women’s first round of the HCL $9,000 PSA Tour squash tournament at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium on Monday.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Rathika will challenge the fifth seed Tanvi Khanna who had a bye in the first round.

Talwar signs off tied 56th at Farmfoods Scottish Challenge
India’s Saptak Talwar carded 71 in the final round to finish Tied-56th at the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge.
In the final round, Talwar picked up two birdies against two bogeys. His rounds of 66-72-72-71 gave him a total of 3-under for the week.

Diksha finishes 46th as Japan’s Yamashita wins AIG Women’s Open
India’s Diksha Dagar endured a rough outing, carding a five-over 77 in the weather-hit final round to finish tied 46th at the AIG Women’s Open.
She had eight bogeys against three birdies as she finished the week at six-over with rounds of 71-73-73-77.
Diksha, the only Indian to make the AIG Women’s Open this year, was making her second cut at the Major, which is the last one of the five for women each season.
Diksha bogeyed the first and had four more in first seven holes and had only one birdie. She later had three bogeys and two birdies for a total of eight bogeys and three birdies.
Diksha is 12th on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit.

Manipur’s Athoiba Singh and Goa’s Purvi clinch 200M freestyle gold in Junior Nationals
Manipur’s Koijam Athoiba Singh and Goa’s Purvi Ritesh Nayak were the star attractions on the opening day of the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship, winning the boys’ and girls’ 200m freestyle events on Monday.
In the boys’ 200m freestyle, Athobia Singh and Amith H Pavan from Karnataka inched ahead from the rest of the pack in the first 100 meters but the former turned on the afterburners in the second lap to pull ahead and clinch the first place with a time of 2:09.63.
Amith pulled in second clocking 2:10.92 while Krishiv Doshi, from Madhya Pradesh came third, clocking 2:13.44.
The corresponding girls’ section, saw a dogfight between Serena Saroha, Stuti Singh, Nyra Bopanna and Annika Goplani.
Serena led till the halfway point but Purvi Ritesh Naik of Goa surged ahead in the final stretch to clinch the top spot with a time of 2:18.35, followed by Karnataka’s Stuti Singh in second place with a time of 2:20.30 and Nyra in third place with 2:20.43.
In the boys’ 200m individual medley, Hemanshu Nahakpam from Manipur pulled miles ahead of his competitors, clocking 2:23.80 to clinch the top spot.
Statemate Athoiba Singh followed him in second place with a time of 2:28.74.
A P Arya Sathar from Tamil Nadu with a time of 2:31.21 clinched the third spot.
It was a tight battle between Maharashtra’s Heeva Bhavesh Patel and Annika Goplani in the girls’ 200m individual medley with the former holding a slight lead in the last lap to finish first with a time of 2:40.81.
Annika finished second with 2:41.55, and she was joined on the podium by Haryana’s Serena after clocking 2:43.74.
