Sreenidi Deccan FC signs Angel Orelien from Panama
I-League club Sreenidi Deccan FC announce the signing of Angel Gabriel Orelien Gonzalez, a talented Panamanian winger, who joins from the French Ligue 2 side Dunkerque on Saturday.
The 23-year-old his senior debut for Panama at the age of 17 in 2018.
Orelien, born in Panama City, has had an impressive journey through the world of football. Beginning his career at Academia Bagoso FC at the age of seven, Orelien moved to Sporting San Miguelito in 2016. His talent soon caught the eye of international clubs, and in March 2019, it was announced that he would join Liga MX side Cruz Azul in July.
Orelien has also been a prominent figure on the international stage, making his senior debut for Panama at the age of 17 in 2018. He also represented them at the under-17 level in the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, at the Under-20 level in the 2017 Central American Games, and at the Under-23 level in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2022 and 2023, where he was named in the Best XI of the 2023 edition.

Subroto Cup: Mother International School beats Tripura Sports School
Babita Kumari scored two goals in guiding Mother International School, Ranchi, to a 2-0 victory over Tripura Sports School in the quarterfinals of the 63rd Subroto Cup under-17 girls football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium on Saturday.
In another quarterfinal played at the KIIT Global School in Gurugram, Alva Devi struck the match-winner in the 1-0 victory of The Porompat Sabal Leikai High School, Imphal, over Christian Higher Secondary School, Meghalaya.

National Football Championship: Subhodip Sardar strikes as Bengal enter Jr Boys’ Tier 1 final
A goal by striker Subhodip Sardar in the 25th minute enabled Bengal to reach the final of the Junior Boys’ National Football Championships with a solitary goal win over Delhi at the Ramakrishna Mission ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday.
The most successful state in the history of the tournament, this was West Bengal’s 26th entry into the final. It has won the trophy 17 times, finishing runner-up on other occasions. In the final to be played on Monday, August 12, 2024, Bengal will take on Odisha.
In a keenly contested match in which neither team were ready to leave an inch, West Bengal clinched the issue in its favour in the 43rd minute off a free-kick taken from around 30 yards by Sabyasachi Dhar. As the ball rolled into the penalty area, Sardar quickly grabbed it through a jungle of legs and shot it past goalkeeper Shubham Malik.
The second half saw some intense battle, with Delhi making an all-out effort to find the equaliser. Bengal, too, was not far behind and made inroads, but missed chances from both sides spoiled their efforts.

Mysuru Open 2024: Veer Ganapathy fires 9-under to share top spot with Binu after round 3
Local player Veer Ganapathy offered the most compelling story of the day, storming into joint lead with a sensational nine-under 61 after the third round of the Mysuru Open 2024 here on Saturday.
Shaurya Binu returned a six-under 64 to give Veer company at the top of the pack with a total of 18-under 192.
A bunch of seven golfers trail the leaders by three shots and are placed tied third. This group includes Amardeep Malik, Angad Cheema, Pukhraj Singh Gill, and Aryan Roopa Anand, all having shot scores of 65, as well as Aman Raj (66), overnight leader Arjun Sharma (68) and Kartik Sharma (67).
The 17-year-old Veer (63-68-61), who was overnight 12th, sank five birdies from a range of eight to 15 feet and recovered well from the rough a few times with his exceptional wedge shots.
The left-handed amateur’s bogey-free 61 thus matched the lowest round of the tournament, a score also shot by Kshitij Naveed Kaul in round two and Saptak Talwar earlier in round three.
Veer, the son of former Indian professional Rahul Ganapathy, will be playing in the final round leader group in his very first appearance in a professional event.
The three-time winner on the junior tour is now chasing history as he looks to become the youngest winner on the PGTI at the age of 17 years and 139 days.
The record is currently held by Karandeep Kochhar who won on the PGTI in 2016 at the age of 17 years and 163 days.
Ganapathy is also in line to become the third amateur to win on the PGTI.
Later, Binu (64-64-64) shot a third straight 64 to move up one spot to tied first.
Shaurya, who won his maiden title on the PGTI earlier this year, drained seven birdies in exchange for a lone bogey.

Kochhar top Indian at tied fifth, Jeev lies tied ninth at International Series England
Karandeep Kochhar led four Indians into the weekend rounds of the International Series England placed tied-fifth at the Par-71 Foxhills Club & Resort here.
At 7-under, Kochhar (68-67) was well placed after two rounds, while veteran Jeev Milkha Singh — at 53 the oldest player in the event — shot 69-68 to be tied ninth at 5-under.
Khalin Joshi (70-71) at 1-under and Anirban Lahiri (72-70) at par were the other Indians to make the cut. Joshi was T-43 and Lahiri was T-62.

ITF tournament: S Mukund loses to Blake Ellis in semfinals
Blake Ellis of Australia saved three match points to beat S Mukund 7-6(0), 2-6, 7-6(7) in the semifinals of the $25,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament in Taipei, Taiwan, on Saturday.
In a battle of wits that lasted 3 hours and 19 minutes, Mukund had two match points on his opponent’s serve in the 12th game of the decider, and at 7-6 in the eventual tie-break.

HCL National squash championship: Anahat Singh beats Akanksha Salunkhe in final
Defending champion Anahat Singh overcame stiff resistance and recovered from the brink of defeat to beat Akanksha Salunkhe 11-9, 5-11, 6-11, 13-11, 11-8 in the women’s final of the 80th HCL National squash championship at the Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.
In the men’s final, Abhay Singh beat defending champion and top seed Velavan Senthilkumar 12-10, 6-11, 11-4, 10-12, 11-4.
The men’s and women’s champions won an equal prize money of Rs.1,30,000, each and the runners-up, Rs.75,000 each.
Akhilesh Kumar beat Saurabh Kumar 11-4, 11-7, 8-11, 2-11, 12-10 to emerge champion in the pro coach event that fetched a prize of Rs.50,000. The runner-up got Rs.30,000.
The prizes were presented by Mrs. Kiran Nadar, the Trustee of Shiv Nadar Foundation and athlete Shaili Singh.
