India, Pakistan play out draw in Sultan of Johor Cup 2025
India and Pakistan played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Sultan of Johor 2025 hockey tournament on Tuesday at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Malaysia.
With this draw, India equals its tally with table-topper Australia, which is ahead due to a superior goal difference, with seven points. The top two teams in the six-team competition will meet in the final.
Pakistan skipper Hannan Shahid converted a penalty stroke in the fifth minute of the match to get his team ahead, before Sufyan Khan doubled his side’s lead in the third quarter.
PR Sreejesh-coached India then mounted a comeback through goals from Araijeet Singh Hundal and Sourabh Anand to restore parity. With eight minutes left in the match, Manmeet Singh gave India the lead for the first time.
But Sufyan bagged his second goal on the night, and sixth of the tournament, to clinch a point for his side.
