India loses 0-2 to England in FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifer Final

India stumbled at the final hurdle and lost 0-2 to England in the final of the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026 in Hyderabad on Saturday.

However, the Salima Tete-led side had already secured its spot in the World Cup, which will be played in Belgium and the Netherlands in August this year.

Grace Baldson put England ahead in the 13th minute before Elizabeth Neal found the second goal in the 43rd minute to put the game beyond India’s reach.

India was once again wasteful in front of goal, had three penalty corners but failed to convert any.

Earlier on Saturday, Scotland beat Italy 1-0 to assure itself a spot at the World Cup.
