India will take on Pakistan in a crucial pool stage match at the Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Tuesday.

The arch-rivals will face in the under-21 tournament after the senior Pakistan team didn’t show up in India for the Asia Cup 2025.

India led by PR Sreejesh has won its first two matches at the ongoing tournament in Malaysia. India won its opening encounter against Great Britain 3-2 before dismantling New Zealand 4-2.

India is currently leading the pool with six points, while Pakistan at fourth among six teams with three points.

Despite a dominating 7-2 win over Malaysia in its first match, Pakistan suffered a disheartening 1-5 loss against Great Britain in the following clash.

This match follows the controversies during the recent Asia Cup 2025 cricket tournament in the UAE, where the Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistan team.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav also didn’t shake hands with captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss during the three matches that happened during the tournament.

The tensions between the two neighbouring countries have led to the uncertainty of Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming FIH Junior World Cup 2025, which will be held in India from November 28 to December 10.
