IND vs KOR, Asian Champions Trophy 2024: India beats South Korea, to face China in final


The Indian men’s hockey team defeated South Korea 4-1 to reach the finals of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 taking place in Moqi, China on Monday.

Korea last beat India 11 years ago, in a 4-3 win in the 2013 Asia Cup. Defending champion India will face China, which defeated Pakistan in the other semifinal, in the summit clash on Tuesday.

At half-time, the Indians had a comfortable 2-0 lead against their Korean counterparts, courtesy of strikes from Uttam Singh and skipper Harmanpreet Singh.

Jarmanpreet Singh added his name to the scoring sheet after receiving a pass from Sumit and slotting it past the Korean keeper.

South Korea got back a consolation goal in the third quarter after Yang Jihun converted a penalty corner.

The Men in Blue put some more distance between their opponents and themselves after Harmanpreet completed his brace, once again from a penalty corner.

India is the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Having defeated China 3-0, Japan 5-1, Malaysia 8-1, Korea 3-1 and Pakistan 2-1, the reigning Asian Games gold medallist entered the semifinal with ease.
