Hong Kong Open 2025: Satwik-Chirag enters round of 16 with hard-fought win

India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the round of 16 in the men’s doubles event at the Hong Kong Open.

Satwik-Chirag overcame Taiwan’s Chiu Hsiang-chieh and Wang Chi-lin in a hard-fought encounter that lasted close to an hour on Tuesday.

The Indian pair started aggressively, claiming the first game 21-13. But, Chie-Wang struck back to claim the second game to 21-18.

Satwik-Chirag regained their touch soon enough as they vanquished their opponents 21-10 in the final game to secure their progression.

The Indian shuttlers come into the tournament high on confidence after claiming a bronze medal at the BWF World Championships in Paris last month.
