HIL 2026: Team Gonasika, Odisha Warrirors pull out of men’s and women’s tournaments


Hockey India (HI) president Dilip Tirkey confirmed on Sunday that Team Gonasika and Odisha Warriors have pulled out of the Hockey India League (HIL) men’s and women’s tournaments, respectively.

A replacement team will soon be announced in place of Team Gonasika in next year’s eight-team competition, which is scheduled to begin in January.

Gonasika finished seventh in the league with just three wins in 10 matches in the league stage. Rarh Bengal Tigers went on to win the men’s league.

Odisha Warriors, which won the women’s edition. has also pulled out.

HI has confirmed that all player payments have been cleared, with the money being deducted from the team’s prize money.

It was also indicted that the federation is trying to get more teams.
