Has any driver won five F1 titles in a row? Verstappen on verge of equaling historic record in Abu Dhabi

Defending champion Max Verstappen will enter the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend with a chance to seal a fifth consecutive Formula One world championship. With McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked in close contention on either side of him in the standings, the title fight is expected to go down to the final laps at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Verstappen could become only the second driver in Formula One history to win five world titles in a row, joining the legendary Michael Schumacher.

The German won an unprecedented five consecutive championships from 2000 to 2004, an era remembered for his unparalleled dominance with Ferrari. He ended the Italian team’s 21-year title drought and forged one of the greatest driver-team partnerships in F1 history.

A four-time world champion, Verstappen is Red Bull’s only other drivers’ title winner after Sebastian Vettel, who also clinched four consecutive championships from 2010 to 2013.
