Gabby Thomas says she hasn’t confirmed her participation in Lausanne Diamond League

US sprinter Gabby Thomas announced on X that she hadn’t confirmed her participation in the Lausanne Diamond League hours after the event confirmed her presence.

The Swiss event’s organisers had put out a statement on their website earlier in the day confirming Thomas’ presence in the Women’s 200m roster.

“Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, and Gabrielle Thomas have confirmed their participation in Athletissima on 20th August,” the statement read.

“This is news to me! Maybe I’ll change my training plan and go race,” the Olympic champion wrote on X.

“They asked me to come, but I haven’t confirmed (in fact I said no). I just don’t like news coming out without my confirmation because if I “pull out” it looks bad on me. So now I feel like I have to go,” she added.

Thomas most recently participated in the Women’s 200 metres at the USA Championships in Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon, where she finished third with a time of 22.20.

Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the event with a time of 21.84 with Anavia Battle second with 21.84.
