Formula One: Bahrain, Saudi Arabian Grand Prix not to be replaced if cancelled – Reports
Formula One will not replace Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix from its 2026 roster, even if both races are cancelled due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, as per reports.
A final decision on the status of both races would be made by March 20, reported Sky Sports News.
“First of all, our approach first of all is safety for all of the relevant stakeholders, people and the promoter itself,” said Stefano Domenicali, F1 president, to Sky Sports F1.
“We don’t want to make any statement today because things are evolving and we still have time to make the right decision. This decision will be taken together,” he added.
While Bahrain was set to host the F1 race on April 10-12, the race in Saudi Arabia was scheduled to happen on April 17-19. Both countries have been affected by retaliatory attacks from Iran, following US-Israel air strikes.
If both races are cancelled, the F1 2026 calendar will be truncated to 22 races. The season will begin this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix.
