Asia Cup 2025: India survives Japan challenge to go top of Pool A
India notched up its second consecutive win at the ongoing men’s Asia Cup in Rajgir after beating Japan 3-2 on Sunday at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium.
With this win, India jumped to the top of Pool A with six points from two matches. The top two teams from the groups will qualify directly for the Super 4s.
Skipper Harmanpreet Singh struck twice from penalty corners after Mandeep Singh broke the deadlock in just the fourth minute of the match.
Kosei Kawabe scored both the goals for the Japanese, one in the third quarter and the other in the fourth, but the strikes went in vain for the side ranked fifth in Asia.
