Uber Cup 2026: Unnati Hooda gives India lead against Ukraine
Young shuttler Unnati Hooda gave India a 1-0 lead over Ukraine in the ongoing Uber Cup 2026 with a straight-games win over Polina Buhrova on Saturday in Horsens, Denmark.
She beat the Ukrainian 21-19, 22-20 in a 46-minute see-saw clash which went till the wire.
Next up, Tanvi Sharma will take on Yevheniia Kantemyr in the second match of the tie.
India began its Uber Cup campaign with a 2-3 defeat to Denmark on Friday, which saw star player P. V. Sindhu and the doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Sindhu register wins in their respective fixtures.
