Aditi best Indian after second day at Aramco; Pranavi, Avani make cut

Aditi Ashok was the top-placed Indian golfer after the second round, even as Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth also made the cut at the Aramco Championship here.

Aditi, a five-time LET winner, including Hero Women’s Indian Open, carded 1-under 71 to move into the top 15 of the leaderboard.

The two other Indians to make the cut are Pranavi (76-75) and Avani (75-76), both placed T-59 on the leaderboard with a score of 7-over par.

However, Diksha Dagar was unable to make the cut due to a difficult second round where she carded six-over 78 for a total of nine-over par. She shot three-over 75 on the first day.

Kochhar slips but stays in top-5 at International Series Japan

Indian golfer Karandeep Kochhar returned a card of 73 in the third round to slip Tied-4th at the International Series Japan, here Saturday.

Kochhar after bogey free rounds on the first two days (67-65) had five bogeys on a windy third day though his three birdies lessened the blow.

With 73 he is now 8-under and Tied-4th after being Tied-second at the halfway stage.

Korea’s Hongtaek Kim kept the lead for the third straight day after a see-saw contest over the closing stages that saw Shugo Imahira from Japan join him in front.

Payal Nag stuns Sheetal for gold as India top standings in Bangkok Para Archery

Teenage quadruple amputee archer Payal Nag produced a stunning upset to defeat her world No 1 decorated teammate Sheetal Devi and clinch gold, headlining India’s dominant show at the World Archery Para Series in Bangkok where the country finished on top with an overwhelming seven gold.

The 18-year-old rising star won 139-136 in the compound women’s final, capping a memorable campaign as India signed off with 16 medals including five silver and four bronze.

India’s gold rush also saw Toman Kumar and Bhawna emerge champions in their respective events.

Toman defeated Australia’s Jonathon Milne 146-142 in the compound men’s final, while Bhawna outclassed Thailand’s Phattharaphon Pattawaeo 6-0 in the recurve women’s summit clash.

Double Paralympic medallist Harvinder Singh had to settle for silver after going down 3-7 to Indonesia’s Kholidin in the recurve final, while Swati Chaudhary also claimed a silver, losing 3-7 to Ok Geum Kim of South Korea in the W1 women’s gold medal match.
