Open Relay 2026: India’s men’s 400m and mixed 100m teams enter Top-24 in World Relays qualification race

India’s men’s 400m relay team claimed gold at the International Invitational Relay competition in Chandigarh on Saturday.

The Indian quartet – featuring Manu TS, Amoj Jacob, Dharamveer Chaudhary and Rajesh Ramesh – clocked 3:01.43s to win the race.

This timing puts India in position for a qualification spot at the World Relays 2026 event, set to happen in Gaborone, Botswana in May. India is currently 15th in the global list – top-24 nations make it through – with entries closing on April 7.

Earlier on Saturday, two Indian teams broke the national record in the mixed 4x100m relay event. Team India (B) clocked 42.30 to bag gold, while India (A) posted a timing of 42.34 – both better than the previous record of 43.44s held by Tamil Nadu.

The India (B) side featured Lalu Prasad, Unnathi Aiyappa, Harita Bhadra and Jayaram D. Their timing on Saturday places India in position for World Relays 2026 qualification as it moves to 19th in the Road to Gaborone standings.

The Indian men’s 4x100m relay team was disqualified after the heats, following a protest from Maldives.
