Manush-Manav pair storms into Singapore Smash semifinals

Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar created history by becoming the first-ever Indian pair to reach the semifinals of a WTT Grand Smash event in Singapore on Wednesday.

Manush and Manav, the sixth seeds, defeated Martin Allegro and Adrien Rassenfosse 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-9) in 27 minutes. The Indians extended the head-to-head advantage over the Belgians, who had reached the quarterfinals after eliminating the top seeds, to 2-0.

The Indian pair will face the fourth-seeded French brothers Felix and Alexis Lebrun in the semifinals on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Manush’s campaign in mixed doubles ended in the quarterfinals as he and Diya Chitale, the sixth-seeded pair, went down 0-3 (6-11, 9-11, 5-11) to third-seeded Brazilian duo of Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi.
