FIH Pro League 2025-26: India ends Rourkela leg with 2-4 defeat to Argentina
India succumbed to a 2-4 defeat at the hands of Argentina in its final FIH Pro League 2025-26 match of the Rourkela leg at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Tomas Domene got the visitors going with his Penalty Corner strike in the 18th minute before Tadeo Marcucci doubled the lead two minutes from the half-time hooter.
Argentina added as many on the other side of the break courtesy of Lucio Mendez and Marcucci. India found a consolation goal in the 50th minute through Aditya Lalage. Sanjay added a second in the penultimate minute when he converted a stroke but that did little to dispel the gloom that has set upon the Indian team in the last week.
India lost all its four games through this leg, conceding 19 goals and scoring just four, and is now second from bottom in the standings.
