Indian wrestlers win 14 medals at Zagreb Open 2026; Aman, Sujeet among medallists
The Indian contingent took home 14 medals from the Zagreb Open, a wrestling ranking series tournament, which finished on Sunday in Croatia.
Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat was amongst the Indians to finish on the podium. He won silver in the men’s 61kg category after he lost USA’s Austin James Desanto.
The only gold medal for India in the men’s freestyle came after Sujeet Kalkal, the Under-23 world champion, beat Iran’s Peyman Ali Nemati 3-0 in the final.
In women’s category, the Indian contingent finished second overall, behind Japan, by bagging eight medals. Manisha clinched the country’s sole gold medal after she beat Japan’s Himeka Tokuhara 3-0 in the 57kg summit clash.
India, has so far, won a solitary medal in Greco-Roman after Chetan lost to Iran’s Erfan Behnam Jarkani 4-8 in the 63kg final. However, the country can still add a medal to its tally in this category as Lalit faces Iran’s Poya Soulat Dad Marz in a bronze-medal match.
