Abdusattorov wins Tata Steel Masters 2026 as Gukesh finishes ninth


Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan clinched the Tata Steel Masters 2026 title on Sunday in Wijk Aan Zee, Netherlands after finishing on top of the standings with nine points after 13 rounds.

He beat India’s Arjun Erigaisi, who finished joint-seventh with compatriot Aravindh Chithambaram on 4.5 points, with black pieces in the final round.

Defending champion R. Praggnanandhaa of India finished sixth with 5.5 points after he drew with Netherlands’ Jorden van Foreest in the final round.

D. Gukesh, the defending world champion from India, finished joint-fifth along with Netherlands’ Anish Giri and Slovenia’s Vladimir Fedoseev with 6.5 points. Gukesh drew with Germany’s Vincent Keymer in their final round match.

Abdusattorov had taken the sole lead heading into the final round after beating Germany’s Matthias Bluebaum.
