India Women’s Hockey Team, World Cup Qualifiers Schedule: Fixtures, Dates, Venues and Timings in IST
India’s women’s team will kickstart its FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers campaign against Uruguay on March 8 at the G. M. C. Balayogi Hockey Ground in Hyderabad.
It will be the first assignment for Sjoerd Marijne in his second stint as the head coach of the Indian team. The Dutchman, during his previous tenure from 2017 to 2021, had led the Women in Blue to a historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics before leaving the job.
India has been placed in Group B along with Uruguay, Scotland and Wales for the qualifiers set to take place from March 8 to 14. Group A comprises Austria, England, Italy and Korea.

India will face Scotland on March 9 and Wales on March 11. The semifinals will be played on March 13 while the third-place playoff and the final will be held on March 14.
Another set of qualifiers featuring Australia, Japan, Ireland, Chile, France, Canada, Malaysia and Switzerland will be held in Santiago, Chile, from February 28 to March 8.
The top three teams at the end of each tournament will qualify for the World Cup, which will be hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands from August 15-30. Another spot will be awarded to the highest world-ranked team among those finishing in fourth place in each event.
These seven teams will join nine other sides which have already qualified for the World Cup either through the FIH Hockey Pro League, the Continental Championships, or as hosts.
While the Indian men’s team won the Asia Cup in Rajgir to secure an automatic spot for the World Cup, the women’s side failed to do the same as it lost to China in the final in Hangzhou last year.
